5 Things Every Business Needs To Know About Packaging

pWhen you are getting started it’s so hard to understand the integral role packaging has to play in marketing and selling your product. Put simply, it’s one of the most important product decisions you will have to make. There is a universe of packaging suppliers, materials and even regulations. Not to be overwhelmed, it is easy to navigate if you take it one step at a time. It is a process just like any other component in product development. They key is to know which packaging factors will influence your product’s success –or failure/ppHere are 5 vital things you need to know as you start on your journey that packages your product to sell./pp1. You can’t have a product without a package./ppJust think about potato chips and eggs for example. How could you sell them unbroken and undamaged without a package? You have to be able to transport a product from point A to point B. The package is what makes it happen. Even if your product is not fragile, it can’t get into the buyers hands in a shop worn condition. Consumers will NEVER buy it./ppIt’s interesting how packaging is evolving. In many cases, there would be no product without the package. Take something as simple as toothpaste. Whether it’s in a tube or in a pump the package plays an integral role in making this product work. It is so ordinary that many people never stop to consider this fact: Where would toothpaste be without a package?/ppSo ask yourself these questions: Is your invention going to need a package that is part of the actual product? Or will the packaging be more of a protective device to convey the product?/ppWhatever the answer might be, it’s time to start thinking about how the packaging is going to impact both shipping and merchandising./pp2. The package could cost more than what is inside./ppThe rule of thumb is that the package should be 8-10% of the total cost on average. 10% of every dollar spent at retail is directly attributable to packaging. But that cost can vary dramatically with the product being packaged. The proportion of cost is lower with high ticket items and higher with commodity items as well as products in which the packaging is a bigger component than the product itself./ppLet’s talk potato chips again. Packaging is a much higher cost in an item like this. You have a few chips and a bag but don’t forget that besides the bag there is a master shipping carton that contains the bags of chips. This is one of the hidden costs that many people overlook./ppSo think about not only the primary package (the one that is going to be seen at retail) but any other packaging materials that you will require to transport, ship or convey your product to its ultimate destination unbroken, not damaged, not tampered with and arriving in pristine condition./pp3. Your package has to sell the product not just protect it./ppThe average consumer spends just 2.6 second making a decision whether to pick up your product or not. So your packaging better be on target to the right audience with the right message. Just stroll through any retail that merchandises similar products to yours. Overwhelmed by the competition? You Bet!/ppAnd that’s just the beginning. Who is going to buy your product? Do you know? Are you aware of what language, colors, design and packaging materials that appeals to your target demographic? This can make or break whether your product sells or not. Ask yourself who do I want to buy my product and what packaging attributes will appeal to them?/pp4. Most packaging materials suppliers require large quantity orders./ppIt’s hard to find a supplier for small quantities. The double edged sword is that you don’t have large orders when getting started. The number one question I am asked is how to find a vendor for small quantities. In many cases, this can be a challenge but it is not impossible./ppI know you have this exotic design concept on your head that’s just going to WOW them at retail. The reality is that in many cases you will have to start with stock packaging items that you can customize. As you get more orders or are able to order in larger quantities you can upgrade your packaging designs./ppDon’t be discouraged. The stock design world has come a long way with innovative designs and materials. With a little innovation and creativity, you can have that prestige look on a start up pocketbook./pp5. Packaging trends and innovations can influence whether your product will ever get onto the stores shelf./ppIn January of every year, I write a trends piece about where I believe the packaging industry is going for the year. This covers not only the hottest packaging trends and innovations but outside influences that can drive the retail industry. Many influences can be outside of your control. The secret is in knowing what is going to be the issue of the future or what might be mandated as a must have in your product packaging./ppThere are external factors that can dramatically change what the consumer wants or demands in their product packaging. What do you know about RFID, product integrity and product security, bioresins and bio plastics, environmental sustainability, smart or intelligent packaging? If you are like most inventors the answer is not much. But these packaging concerns are the wave of the future. Chances are one or more of these factors will be discussed when your try to get a buyer to commit to carrying your product./ppMany requirements mandated but big box retailers such as Wal-Mart and b Home Depot/b drive smaller retailers in the same direction./ppI’m not trying to scare or overwhelm you with decisions that you are not prepared to make. I am trying to point out a few of the facts you will need to be aware of and consider in product packaging. The time to address these issues is at the point when you prepare your product for market not at the end when many times it’s too late./ppMake your product packaging among the first decisions you make with your idea– not your last. If you need more guidance, check out my packaging websites or come to my Packaging Boot Camp which will answer your How Do I questions.

Things to Consider When Buying a Watt Meter

pAre you planning to buy a watt meter?/ppIf your answer is in the affirmative, there are things you need to know before making your purchasing decision — like, its basic features and the different types of wattmeter available in the market./ppFor an outlander, a watt meter is an electric power measurement instrument used to measure Watts1 for any AC power circuit. There are hordes of wattmeters thronging the marketplace — from Heathkit, Collins, Swan, Drake, and Nye Viking — to MFJ, Diawa, Vectronics, Autek, Coaxial Dynamics, Palstar, Bird, and Kenwood. Almost all these manufacturers say theirs is accurate on frequency, while rendering the highest reading. What is the real story, let us find out. Types of Wattmeter Before narrowing down your choice of a standard wattmeter, you might want to explore the different types of wattmeter available in the market today./pp1. Electrodynamics Wattmeter This wattmeter is one of the oldest and most frequently used to measure electric power in AC circuits. It consists of a pair of fixed or current coil, and a movable coil known as potential coil. The current coil is positioned in series, whereas, the potential coil or the movable coil is placed in parallel. Such an arrangement enables rotation of the potential coil by a limited angle, to an axis perpendicular to the fixed coils. Additionally, a needle is positioned in the wattmeter to indicate electric power./pp2. Electronic Wattmeter This instrument is used to measure power at frequencies above the range of Electrodynamics Wattmeter. It is further divided into Vacuum Tube and Digital Wattmeter, depending upon the features and functions performed by the wattmeter./pp3. Vacuum Tube Owing to its traditional design, this instrument can measure electric power in the nonlinear region of grid voltage and plate-current curves./pp4. Digital Wattmeter This simple, yet optically isolated wattmeter is used to make accurate measurements of real power consumption, despite the presence of large reactive and DC components in the current drawn by the monitored load./ppSo there, now that you know about the different types of wattmeter, here are some tips to help your purchasing decision while buying a wattmeter from a trusted manufacturer./ppo If you are planning to buy a wattmeter from manufacturers like Coaxial Dynamics or Bird Electronic Corporation, it might be worthwhile to know that their accuracy classification claim of + or – 5% of full scale when the needle is mid-scale is correct./ppo If you want a measuring instrument that provides protection from the inverse attenuation effect, go for a cheap, cross-needle Putt-Putt wattmeter./ppo To measure the power of a single appliance or at a specific outlet, use the plug-in wattmeter. This instrument can be extensively used around your office or computer rooms, for testing the usefulness of an outlet and the power consumption of electronic items plugged into it. Plug-in wattmeters are able to detect damaged electronics or bad electrical wiring, by calculating the power flow through a single outlet. One of the simplest and easy-to-use wattmeter in this category includes the Kill-A-Watt EZ from the PowerMeterStore./ppo Professional-grade, portable wattmeters like the Test Equipment Depot and the Bird Model 5000-EX digital wattmeter fulfill the on-site troubleshooting needs of electricians, electrical repair crews, and system troubleshooters./ppo To stay on top of your electric bills, use digital wattmeters that evaluate the overall power consumption of an electrical system. These instruments have readouts that display where and how power is being consumed. Some advanced models even allow the power monitor to render small changes in the electrical power flow. Digital wattmeters like the Energy Detective and the EIG Shark 100 are quite a rage in the marketplace. The former is used to monitor a home office or small business, whereas the latter is used for more robust applications, such as large businesses or IT rooms./ppo Digital radio frequency (RF) wattmeters like Thomas Scherrer OZ2CPU are used to measure accurate RF power and gain in amplifiers, bandwidth in filters, transmitter power, Standing Wave Ratio (SWR), and return loss./ppo Some wattmeters like Palstar’s PM2000A have a dual movement meter system that measures and displays forward as well as reflected electric power./ppFinally, whatever decision you make, please be reminded that wattmeters play an important role in the maintenance of large electrical systems. By measuring the overall wattage of a system, these instruments act as one of the first lines of defense versus electronic wear. Also, how you will use the instrument is an important consideration while deciding on the type of wattmeters you need./p p a href=http://footstool.zonblog.com/ rel=dofollow title=Foot StoolFoot Stool/a a href=http://teakfurniture.zonblog.com/ rel=dofollow title=Teak FurnitureTeak Furniture/a /p

TV Wall Mount Installation – 5 Things You Need To Know Before Wall Mounting Your Flat Panel TV

pWhile you can certainly save some money by mounting your flat panel plasma or LCD TV on the wall by doing it yourself, there are a few considerations that you should take into account before setting out to do the job./ppb1. Get the Correct Wall Mount for Your TV’s Application/b/ppTV wall mounts come in a variety of sizes and application types. You need to know how you want to use your TV in your daily life before choosing the wall mount. Will you be viewing it from a variety of angles? If so, perhaps an articulating wall mount would make sense for you. That way, you can angle it toward your kitchen while you are cooking or for other similar situations. Think about your room layout. If you know your TV must be mounted higher than eye-level, then you should look for tilting wall mount. Plan ahead so that your viewing experience will be as enjoyable as you hoped when you decided on making the investment in a flat panel TV./ppb2. Get the Right Size Wall Mount for Your TV/b/ppSizing the mount should be pretty straightforward. Most TVs and mounts are pretty standardized in sizing and bolt options. Purchase from a reputable vendor and you should be able to get good advice and recommendations on which size mount fits your specific TV./ppb3. Make Sure You Have Wooden Studs in Your Wall/b/ppIt is surprising how many people jump into mounting a TV on their wall without knowing what is inside their wall. If you have wooden studs in your wall, the mounting job can be quite simple. Metal studs can cause problems that need a closer look to effectively resolve./ppb4. Read Your Lease if You Live in an Apartment/b/ppBefore you go drilling in your apartment’s walls, make sure it’s kosher with your landlord. Otherwise, you could violate your lease and be susceptible for damage bills, or even get yourself evicted. If you would rather not read your lease, talk to your landlord or apartment manager about what you want to do./ppb5. Gather All Your Tools BEFORE You Start/b/ppNothing makes a mounting job worse than having to look for tools or make a run to Home Depot for something you forgot while you have wires hanging out of the wall. By way of example, if you plan on mounting the TV on a Saturday morning, make a list of the tools you need on Friday night. If those are not in your immediate possession, take Friday night and run to Home Depot to buy the missing tool(s) or go borrow them from your neighbor. When Saturday rolls around, get the tools out first, then (and only then) proceed with the installation of the TV wall mount./ppHopefully, these tips will get you started on the right foot and save you some time and heartache along the way. The satisfaction you get and money you save from taking on a TV wall mount installation by yourself is rewarding. Just take the time and effort to get it right and your installation will go much more smoothly./p p a href=http://diyhomedepot.thailandspace.com/ rel=dofollow title=http://diyhomedepot.thailandspace.com/http://diyhomedepot.thailandspace.com//a a href=http://diyhomedepot.blogdetik.com/ rel=dofollow title=http://diyhomedepot.blogdetik.com/http://diyhomedepot.blogdetik.com//a a href=http://diyhomedepot.istoreblog.com/ rel=dofollow title=http://diyhomedepot.istoreblog.com/http://diyhomedepot.istoreblog.com//a /p
